Lake Vacation

We went directly to the lake after John and Emily's wedding to have some fun. Below are some pictures from our trip.

Here Jacob and Maggie were cuddling while watching a video...so cute.

It is very hard to see from the picture below, but the kids are actually chasing after the world's smallest frog. You should see it better in the following pics.

Here's a shot of Maggie playing in the kiddie pool down on the dock. She actually enjoyed the water quite a bit, which was great. She floated on her back (with her life jacket) all by herself and just enjoyed the ride.

We were so proud of Jacob. At the beginning of the week, he would get in the water but wouldn't let go of the ladder. By the end of the week he was swimming on his own and was learning to paddle and kick, all while keeping his mouth closed! He would ask if he could "practice" his swimming.

Here's a rare shot of Gramma in the water, surrounded by her grandkids. (Mom, I know you're probably mad, but don't kill me for posting this picture, it's adorable.)

Here's Grandaddy in disguise while driving the jet ski.

Popsicle time!

Wedded Bliss

Well, John and Emily made it official on June 21st!!! The wedding was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the dancing was atrocious...but we had a blast. Most importantly, I think John and Emily had a blast. Below are some of the pics I took from the reception...in no particular order.

Here's the lovely couple...gazing into each other's eyes...awwww.
Maggie having her first dance with her daddy. For those who weren't at the wedding, we didn't let her attend the wedding shirtless. It was an outdoor wedding and it was around 96 degrees, so we took her dress off for the reception and she was a much happier girl from that point on.
Here are the bride and groom cutting their cake...

A kiss during their first dance.

Here's a shot of the groom's cake. The theme/shape was a surprise to us, but fits right in with John's personality. He actually serenaded Emily with his guitar after the rehearsal dinner.

Another shot of their first dance.

Brent and Maggie overlooking the bluff.

Jacob and Maggie having fun on the dance floor while the rest of us were eating dinner.

A shot of the reception...

Jacob was quite the entertainer...

Here's a shot of Maggie during dinner, getting a big gulp of sweet tea from Grandaddy.

Of course, Jacob was mesmerized with Emily's "bail"...or veil as we would call it.

Don't they look happy??

House Updates and Water Babies

As usual, Brent has been working non-stop to make improvements to our house. He took a short break from our house this past weekend as we traveled to Alabama for a bridal shower for Emily...only to work at my parent's house non-stop. Ha! Anyway, these first shots are of the landscaping he has done to the house. First you'll see the house from the outside before we bought it...And here are the improvements made with the landscaping... Here is a shot of the kitchen before we moved in.
Here are a few shots after we moved in and repainted...

And here is a shot after the new flooring is put in. Brent is working on the last few areas as I write this but I think this gives a good picture of what it looks like. We took Jacob and Maggie to the splash pad last week. Below are a few shots of them playing in the sprinklers. They both had a blast, but Brent and I were shocked and how much Maggie loved it. That girl is fearless!
This is Jacob running through the rings...

Maggie clapping with joy...

Brent taking Maggie through the rings...that was her favorite part.

Lastly, here is a shot of the dress that Maggie will wear to John and Emiy's wedding in less than 2 weeks! It came via UPS yesterday, along with Jacob's matching outfit. Jacob wouldn't let me try the clothes on him yet so I just got a quick shot of Maggie. They're going to be adorable. Let's just hope that they behave adorably during the ceremony.

Moving along...

Well, things are moving along at the new house, slowly but surely! Below is a "before" picture of the kid's bathroom....
And here is a picture after we cleaned, painted and added a shower curtain. I'm still shopping for pictures for the wall but I do think it is a huge improvement.

Jacob's sunday school class sang a song and said a Bible verse in front of the church yesterday. Jacob didn't really participate, but he did stand there and look around for me since he knew I was wearing my "costume" (aka choir robe). I was a very proud mama! He's on the back row on the far right. You'll also see cousin Wesley on the left hand side.

Here are a few shots of us hanging out in the back yard last night. Maggie was sitting in her chair awaiting the arrival of the cows in the field behind our house. (They were a no show)

Jacob busied himself planting flowers and making silly faces.

Brent partook of a very healthy dinner.
