Surgery and more

Brent had surgery to repair his broken ankle on Monday of this week. The surgery went great and the doctor says it should do the trick...meanwhile, Brent cannot put any weight on that foot for 5 weeks, minimum. He's in a great deal of pain but found a new friend in Lortab (sp?). Below are some recent pics...

Showing off his new cast... Here's a pic of Maggie in the dress she wore to church on Sunday...super cute. She's not sitting like a lady but I haven't had a chance to teach her that yet.
Here are both my beautiful kids in a recent shot I took. This might end up on our Christmas card.

Maggie now likes to watch Baby Einstein videos on tv.

Nana and Maggie in the back yard. Sorry for the lack of pictures featuring Jacob. He's a booger these days and won't look at the camera...

What's your favorite color?

Well these are fun times at the Shelton house. The kids are keeping us busy and also keeping us laughing. Jacob is saying some pretty funny things these days. Yesterday, while playing with Brent in the yard, Jacob said "I smell something. Poop. I love poop. It's my favorite color." Ha! He is also very particular about things (don't know who he would get that from...). For instance, he doesn't like it when I whistle. He tells me that only men are supposed to whistle and "Your a gull" as he would say. Our little Maggie is cracking us up these days too. She'll wave when we say bye-bye to her, but only if the mood strikes her. She is pulling up on things and continues to put absolutely every miniscule thing from the floor in her mouth. My latest challenge is keeping her out of the bathroom while I'm taking Jacob to the potty. She loves to crawl in there and pull up on the toilet, etc. Fun germies. Anyway, below are some random pics I've taken lately. Enjoy.

Here are the munchkins trying to escape to the yard. It's not like our home is a prison - I don't know what their problem is. Here they are showing off our good dental hygiene. No cavities for us!

An example of Maggie pulling up to stand. She has also left some teeth marks in our beautiful bed. (don't worry, I spanked her for that one...ha!)

Here is Jacob and Hope playing on the see-saw at my friend Karen's house.

Maggie enjoyed the walker Karen let us borrow...

Jacob played in his wagon some yesterday. Sorry all the pictures of him are from the side. He refuses to look at the camera any more. Stubborn child. Once again, I don't know where he gets these traits (no comment necessary, mom).

Always safety conscious, he tries to buckle himself in.

Here's a pic of the tree in our backyard. Gorgeous color...too bad God didn't make the trees turn Alabama Crimson instead of Tennessee Orange. Oh well, Bama is #1 and Tennessee fired their coach and is....well, let's not gloat too much. Don't know why I'm so chipper this morning. Probably because Maggie slept a full 10 hours last night before waking up to eat. Yay!!!

Fun at the Park

Well, the pictures below are a mix of some I took at the park and then some I've taken around the house. First, for those of you who are still wondering, Maggie "passed" the hair clip successfully on Monday. Yay! I will say that last night, after I arrived at church, I went to get her out of her car seat and the rubber band I had put in her hair was gone and I thought "not again!" She had pulled it out of her hair, but I found it in the car. Whew! On to the pictures...

Here's a shot of Maggie in a dress she wore last Sunday. I may use this as her Christmas picture... We went to the park yesterday with my friend Karen and her two little girls...Here's Hope on the monkey bars (is that what those are??)

Another shot of Hope, grinning like her mama.
Jacob going down the slide.

Little Violet hamming it up for the camera.

Jacob stopping to give me a quick smile : )

Well, maybe I found a new way to keep Maggie's hair out of her face without causing bodily harm...what do you think?

Metal doesn't digest very well...

Well, Maggie ate a hair clip yesterday. Yes, you read right. Below you'll see a picture of her x-ray showing the clip in her stomach. We're currently waiting for it to make it's "exit" back into the world. Here's a shot of Jacob playing at a friend's house. He loved this little car garage. The elevator went up and down and he was fascinated by that.

I gave Maggie a bowl of applesauce to play with while I cleaned up the kitchen. A few minutes later I realized that she had bitten through the lid and was sucking out the sauce. Crazy girl.

Maggie was a little apprehensive of the Johnny Jump Up...but she did end up enjoying it.

Fun at home

Some of the latest pictures...

Here is my nephew Dylan, otherwise known as the biggest baby I know...looks like he's thinking "what you talking 'bout Willis!" Jacob is constantly playing with his magnadoodle...drawing the veggie tales characters. He can now add facial elements, such as eyes, nose and a mouth. Yes, we're impressed too.
Here's Maggie sporting a new 'do. This was my effort to keep her hair from collecting snot during the night since she has had a cold the last few days. I think it is cute.

Jacob is enjoying jumping on the bed while wearing his new Handy Manny t-shirt.

Another pic of Maggie...this time sporting a new outfit...sooooo cute.

Fun Outside

I took some pictures of the kids yesterday while waiting for Brent to get home from work.

The prettiest girl on the block... Future singer...

Her favorite pasttime - sticking out her tongue.

Jacob trying to carry 3 balls at once.

Jacob showing the fine art of catching a ball. Step one: get hands ready.

Step two: Keep your eye on the ball.

Step three: Catch it and squeal with happiness.

It also helps to have the best pitcher in town.

Two Cuties

It's been a while since my last post and I don't have a great excuse...sorry. Below are some recent pictures of the kids. Maggie will be 9 months this week (I'm in shock that her first birthday is coming up). Jacob is talking up a storm and saying the funniest things. They're a blast!

Adventures in Eating

The following pictures are of Jacob and Maggie eating various things...a cupcake iced in lime green icing for Jacob, and Maggie enjoying some fruit through a mesh teething feeder, as well as her first taste of cheerios. Yep, we really need to make sure we brush his teeth.
Jacob can be such a good big brother at times, as you can see below as he helps Maggie with her teething feeder (it has a mesh cap so she can have fruit, etc. without danger of choking on it). At other times his only mission is to take away any toys that she might be enjoying.

Here is Maggie trying her hardest to get a small piece of cheerio into her mouth. She was successful on a few occasions.
